Azithromycin is a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic formulated to effectively treat a wide range of bacterial
infections, particularly in pediatric patients, especially those affecting the upper and lower respiratory tract,
skin, and ears. It offers once-daily dosing, excellent tissue penetration, and a shorter treatment duration, which enhances compliance and accelerates recovery.

• Mode of Action: Azithromycin is bacteriostatic in action, works by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of susceptible bacteria, inhibiting protein synthesis thereby preventing bacterial growth. It gets highly concentrated in infected tissues, maintaining therapeutic levels for extended periods even after the last dose—allowing for short-course therapy. It is effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative organisms, including atypical pathogens.
