Atorvastatin is a lipid-lowering medication belonging to the statin (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor) class. It is primarily used to reduce elevated levels of total cholesterol, LDL-C (bad cholesterol), triglycerides and apolipoprotein B and to increase HDL-C (good cholesterol) in patients at risk for cardiovascular diseases and plaque stabilization with once-daily dosing.

• Indications:
  1. Primary hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol)
  2. Mixed dyslipidemia (combined elevated cholesterol & triglycerides)
  3. Prevention of cardiovascular events (MI, stroke) in at-risk patients
  4. Familial hypercholesterolemia (heterozygous or homozygous)
  5. Adjunct to diet in adult and pediatric patients aged 10+ years in familial hypercholesterolemia
