FebuxostatFEBUMORE 40 MG TABLET

New beginning in the management of hyperuricemia and gouty attacks with Febumore, the oral non-purine selective xanthine oxidase inhibitor. Xanthine oxidase is needed to oxidize the metabolites of purine ultimately to uric acid, thereby increasing the serum concentration of it.

  • Dosage: Once daily without regarding food or antacid or as directed by the physician
  • Form: Tablet
  • Indications:
    1. Gout flares and Tophus
    2. Hyperuricemia in patients with Gout
    3. Renal and Hepatic impairment with Hyperuricemia
  • Composition: Febuxostat 40 mg
  • Mode of Action: Purine and pyrimidine rich food (e.g. meat, fish, spinach etc.) are metabolised by xanthine oxidase (XO) and produces uric acid. Over consumption of this kind of foods leads to the increase in serum urate level and gout. Febuxostat in Febumore is more selective and potent inhibitor of the active site of XO than Allopurinol, and does not inhibit other enzymes involved in purine or pyrimidine metabolism. It blocks the formation of uric acid and significantly decreases serum urate level along with its consequences after 2 weeks of treatment (compared to Allopurinol group) at a starting dose of 40 mg without requiring any dose adjustment (needed with Allopurinol). Febumore is effective in treatment of mild to moderate renal and hepatic impairment with hyperuricemia.
