Glifiroz is used to treat type 2 diabetes, promoting elimination of glucose through urine. This helps to stabilize the blood sugar level. Glifiroz is used to lower the risk of cardiovascular death in patients with type 2 diabetes and heart disease. It also lowers the risk of worsening of kidney disease, end stage kidney disease and cardiovascular death in patients with chronic kidney disease. It takes 2 hours to a week to show its full effect. The 10 mg dose provides greater glycemic control, enhanced cardiorenal benefits, and improved outcomes in patients with uncontrolled diabetes, heart failure, or progressive kidney disease compared to 5 mg.
